Frequently Asked Questions:
How long does counselling last?
Sessions are usually 50 minutes long.
Can I have my session online?
Yes, you can have your session online or in person.
I work with adults (25-64), Older Adults (65+), and organisations.
How often are sessions?
Typically, sessions are weekly, held at the same time each week.
How many sessions will I need? This varies, but 6–8 sessions are common for mild-to-moderate issues, while complex problems may require longer.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes, therapists work under strict professional ethical codes (such as BACP). Limits to confidentiality (e.g., safety risks) are discussed in the first session.
What is an initial consultation/assessment?
A 50-minute meeting to discuss your situation, determine if the counsellor is a good fit, and agree on how to proceed.
How much does it cost?
I charge £80.00 per session. I request the £80 fee for the session 48 hours before the session commences. This is to cover the room costs and admin in the event of a cancellation. This is non-refundable if you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice.
What if I don't like the counsellor?
It is crucial to feel comfortable. If you do not feel a connection, you are not obligated to continue and can seek a different therapist.
Is it confidential?
Yes, counsellors adhere to strict ethical guidelines regarding privacy, with exceptions only if there is a risk of harm to themselves or others.
Common Concerns:
Will I have to talk about my past?
While exploring the past can provide context for current struggles, counsellors generally work at your pace.
Will I be judged?
No, counsellors are trained to provide a non-judgmental, empathetic space.
Can I get online counselling?
Yes, many therapists offer secure, professional online or phone sessions. However, this is done after an assessment has been made as to the kind of support you need.
Do counsellors work online with people outside the UK?
I personally only work with clients in the UK.
